CHOOSING A CAREER

A career is an individual's metaphorical "journey" through learning, work and other aspects of life . There are a number of ways to define a career, and the term is used in a variety of ways.

Definitions and etymology
The word career is defined by the
Oxford English Dictionary

as a person 's "course or progress through life (or a distinct portion of life)". In this definition career is understood to relate to a range of aspects of an individual's life, learning and work. Career is also frequently understood to relate to the working aspects of an individual's life e.g. as in career woman. A third way in which the term career is used to describe an occupation or a profession that usually involves special training or formal education,  and is considered to be a person’s lifework. In this case "a career" is seen as a sequence of related jobs usually pursued within a single industry or sector e.g. "a career in education" or "a career in the building industry.

[Career can also be said to be an occupation undertaken for a significant period of a person's life and with opportunity for progress

The process of choosing a career part for ourselves can start at a very young age
As early as primary school days, Some people's career choice were influenced by parents and even Friends

Some people have been known to forge a career out a childhood hobby of there's
Hobbies such as singing, playing football, etc

2)Financial considerations
In Nigeria today most youths and even children tend to choose careers which has d possibility of paying well in the future. Parents are know to even choose such for there children

3.Parental factors
Since the time immemorial parents have been known to yield great influence in d life of there children
Parents tend to want there children to do wat dey think is right for dem without considering wat d child wants
In some cases it works out but in others it doesn't

For as d persons grows he/she tends to develop d passion for other things

4.Opportunity for educational advancement in future
Career choices have been known to b based on this very factor.the opportunity to advance Nd improve ones knowledge over time and acquire more educational qualification

Such career include teaching mostly because you are afforded the opportunity to do so and some cases paid to do so.

5.Passion for a particular thing
Having a passion for d arts,fashion designing and even acting can also influence our choices in d future
